Although we were a few months late celebrating Ava's 1st Birthday, it needed to be done!
Ava and her adoring (and adorable!) brothers.
The pictures above were actually taken the day after the party, when we finally got a chance to sing to Ava. The party day was a little busy and the kids already had so many goodies!
With so many cute ideas online for decorating, etc., I couldn't resist trying out a few of them. I think I went a little overboard with treats, so I don't know if I'll be doing that again, but it was fun to put together anyhow.
Here's the table before it was attacked. :)
In jars and on plates I had saltwater taffy, animal cookies, licorice, pixie stix, wafer cookies, and dipped pretzels.
Fabric goody bags made with a variety of fabrics and then filled with more candies. Inspiration was from Martha, but I couldn't find the link again. Fun and super easy to make.
Handmade Pom Poms. (They are NOT perfect and don't you love the strings? not.)
Instructions from Martha. If you decide to try it, just use about double the amount of tissue or they will look like my red one. Floppy and flat on the top. They are easy and fun though. I just ran out of time to do more. I'm trying to decide if I should just trash them or hang them in Ava's room. Hmmm?
Mushroom Cake. Inspired by this one I saw on flickr. Really fun to make, but I wish my red paint had been brighter and that I had more "mushrooms".
My paper Little Red and hand painted wooden pegs for the mushrooms.
White chocolate dipped Pretzel Rods. Love these! mmmm!
Lemon Poppyseed muffins with Lemon Frosting.
Topped with my Little Red and Harmless Wolfie tags.
We also had super yummy food, but somehow my mind blanked taking pictures of that. We had aunts, and an uncle and a house full of cousins to go with it all. I think I'll show her new kitchen pictures in another post so I don't drive anybody crazy with picture overload! (Since I already did that.)
We *completely* enjoyed our company and I am so glad I got to put together whatever I wanted to do for Ava's birthday.....However......
It sucked all the energy out of us and we decided we are not doing that again for A GOOD LONG WHILE! :)
This week I have LOTS on my to do list!
Cleaning, Bee blocks, getting kids haircuts and working on some new updates for the the shop COMING SOON! I know.... it's been ages and I can't wait!
C-ya!
