Last week I was finally able to finish up a couple baby quilts.....long overdue, but they were a joy to make and give! They are for two nephews, not twins (cousins though!) as one might think with the matching color combo.
It just happened to work out using the same colors, although one quilt has the orange added with the green, blue and brown. Both quilts started with an inspiration fabric and then I went from there. They don't both have all of the same fabrics and they are also different patterns. I was so worried though with combining the colors and mixing some of the fabrics, but I think it worked out in the end. :)
First up....
Here's Oliver's Wonky Quilt in the works....all pinned up and ready to be quilted. My first wonky quilt ever! I haven't done a lot of wonky blocks before, so this was fun and a learning process for me. I get scared to go too wonky, so mine is pretty straight. i'm not the daring type i guess.
I love this star fabric on the back!
Next up....
Here's Eli's Coin quilt in the works! I think I'm finally getting a little better at the free motion quilting, but I still make mistakes. I really love this part though!
I don't have a fancy machine, so I just make-do, and it's definitly a do-able task....mine's a $130 Brother...so as long as you can put your feed dogs down (and get a darning foot!), you don't need a super expensive machine. Having said that, I've used my sister-in-laws fancy machine and it's alot nicer to quilt with!! Hers has more space for the quilt and your hands and it's a smoother feeling as you are quilting. Overall, just makes it more enjoyable. All I'm sayin' is, don't think you can't do it if you are curious to try, but don't have a fancy quilting machine. You can!
Anyway, back to Eli's quilt....
His has some handsome polka dots on the back....love these too!
I'm so glad Oliver and Eli have their quilts now!
Enjoy!
Tasha
